How to become an associate member
Application to become a CASE associate
The overarching vocation of the CASE (Centre Asie du Sud-Est—Center for Southeast Asian Studies) is to conduct research, gather documentation and disseminate knowledge on Southeast Asia, in the fields of the humanities, as well as to train younger scholars to conduct research. In order to apply to be an associate member of the CASE, a PhD is required (or equivalent publications) as well as the ability to speak at least one of the languages from the geographical area.
Candidates must send an application file including a letter stating their reasons for applying, a CV, a list of publications, a one-page research program, their dissertation and “rapport de these,” as well as any other element deemed useful to email@example.com. The Executive Council may invite candidates to present their research in one of the center’s seminars, or during a special session.
Candidacies are examined by the Executive Council, which meets three times a year. The selection criteria are the following: scholarly quality, fit within the scholarly purview of the CASE and involvement in research. The Executive Council decides whether or not to present the candidate to the General Assembly, which makes the final decision through a vote during its annual meeting.
